Social Services

Services are prioritized for the elderly, individuals with disabilities, low-income individuals, and families with children under the age of six. Some emergency assistance may be available on a limited basis to individuals referred from other community service agencies.

Intake

Meal Services

Key West: Congregate meal offerings are at the Key West Senior Citizen Plaza, 1400 Kennedy Drive.

  • Open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch served around noon)

Big Pine Key: The Big Pine Key Senior Citizen Center/Meal Site is located in the Winn-Dixie Shopping Plaza, 179 Key Deer Blvd. The Blue Heron Senior Center/Meal Site is nearing completion, and move-in should occur soon.

  • Open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch served at noon)

Middle Keys: Home-delivered meals are provided to registered clients throughout the Middle Keys. There is no meal site in Marathon.

Key Largo: Congregate meal offerings are at the Key Largo Tradewinds Senior Center/Meal Site, 101491 Overseas Hwy, Suite 4.

In-Home Services  

In-home services include personal care, homemaking, in-home respite, and chore services for our most frail, elderly, disabled, or low-income citizens. Personal care workers are Certified Nursing Assistants and are trained in infectious disease control. 

Welfare

This program provides assistance with utility payments, prescription payments, food, etc.

Funding

Most funding for services comes primarily from federal and state grants, with a small portion coming from county taxpayers under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners.
