GOV. RON DESANTIS APPOINTS CRAIG CATES TO FILL VACANT DISTRICT 1 COMMISSION SEAT

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his appointment of Craig Cates to fill the vacant District 1 Board of County Commissioner seat left open by Danny Kolhage. Kolhage vacated the seat on Nov. 30 citing personal commitments.

Cates is a former Mayor of the City of Key West who has filed to run for the seat in the general election taking place Nov. 3, 2020 election. Andy Williams and Monroe County Tax Collector Danise Henriquez have also filed to run for the District 1 seat.

Cates will be sworn in on Thursday, Dec. 12 by the Monroe County Clerk of Court to begin work and will be ceremonially sworn in at the Jan. 22, 2020 Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting at Marathon Government Center.
