Monroe County Project Management is installing a new boater information kiosk at the Harry Harris Park boat ramp in Key Largo. The project is being funded through state boating improvement funds generated from recreational vessel registrations. The kiosk will have signage about local waters and will include boater guides and other water safety materials.
“Informing boaters, especially those not familiar with our local waters is a significant concern for Monroe County,” said Project Management Director Cary Knight. “This project serves the needs of the boating community and will result in improved boating access, provide a benefit to recreational boaters, and afford for recovery of sensitive marine habitats especially since we have a high level of boating-related activities from individuals who reside in other counties.”
The first kiosk is being installed as a pilot project. As funding becomes available, project management would like to include them at other County boat ramps.
