MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO STRUCTURE FIRE ON BIG COPPITT KEY

Monroe County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 5:04 a.m. on Big Coppitt Key. Stations 8, 9, and 10 responded to the fire within minutes of the call. Upon arrival, a single wide mobile home of approximately 700 sq. ft was partially on fire.

 “The crews did a great job containing the fire,” said Francisco Perez Diaz, Monroe County Battalion Chief. “The fire was quickly knocked down and under control.”

There were no injuries reported. The one occupant of the home safely evacuated from the structure. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The American Red Cross and the utility companies were notified. Monroe County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
