  1. Ornamental & Turfgrass Pest Management Review and Exam

    Please contact the UF-IFAS Monroe County Extension Service at or (305) 292-4501 to reserve your seat! Pesticide License is available either as a Public certification for those applicators that apply herbicides (Restricted Use Pesticides) to agricultural areas, industrial areas, and any outdoor areas such as golf courses, athletic fields, parks and cemeteries, and that work for federal, state, county, or municipal public agencies, or as a Commercial certification for contractors to apply pesticides in those same areas. In order to take the test, you must obtain a voucher from FDACS: click on "apply for exam". This will take you to the website where you will complete your information. (You cannot take the exam without visiting the website and attaining a voucher.) If you have questions about qualifying for the exam, licensing categories, or navigating the FDACS website, please call 850-617-7982.

  2. Florida Keys Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Monroe County are holding two public meetings for the Florida Keys Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study next week: September 11, 2019 5-7pm Key Largo BOCC room Murray Government Center 102050 Overseas Highway Key Largo September 12, 2019 5-7 pm Key West Commission Room Harvey Government Center 1200 Truman Avenue Key West The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about the project alternatives and provide comments on the alternatives and the feasibility study. The format of the meeting will be an informal open-house hosted by Monroe County, where the public can attend any time during the meeting hours and staff from the USACE and Monroe County will be available to answer questions. The USACE plans to prepare an Environmental Assessment to evaluate environmental impacts from reasonable project alternatives and to determine the potential for significant impacts.
