The USACE is investigating solutions to reduce the damage and risks from flooding that comes from storm surges associated with hurricanes and tropical storms amplified by sea level rise. The study focuses on critical infrastructure and areas that are vulnerable to coastal storms. The draft, prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act, identifies coastal storm flood risks to residents, industries, and businesses, develops risk-management measures, and evaluates its impacts to human and natural environments.
