Special Meeting: Rescinding County Facial Covering Ordinance
Wednesday, May 5, 2021
Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron has called a special meeting on Wednesday, May 5, at 9 a.m. at the Marathon Government Center. The purpose of the special meeting is to consider the effects of Governor DeSantis’ Executive Orders 21-101 and 21-102 that were issued on May 3, 2021. The Board will formally consider rescinding Ordinance 032-2020, which requires the wearing of facial coverings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. County Attorney Bob Shillinger has already advised the County’s Code Compliance Department to suspend all enforcement efforts of the ordinance in light of the Governor’s order. Monroe County will continue to have a hybrid platform for BOCC meetings. The public is welcome in person or via zoom. The Zoom meeting will be available at www.monroecounty-fl.gov/BoccSpecialMay5 or https://mcbocc.zoom.us/j/94584213126.
