MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO STRUCTURE FIRE ON SUGARLOAF KEY

Monroe County Fire Rescue Stations 9, 10, 11, and 13
responded to a fully involved structure fire on Oleander Lane on Sugarloaf Keyat approximately 11 p.m. on Monday. Ladder 11 used an elevated stream to
extinguish the flames that vented through the roof of the structure. The firewas contained to the building of origin. 

 

The two occupants in the home were able to escape with no
injuries. A cat was pulled from the structure, given oxygen, and transported toKeys Animal Care Center for further care. 

 

The Monroe County Fire Marshal ruled the fire accidental
from an electrical malfunction. High winds contributed to the fire’s quickspread.
