Mayor Pro Tem Jim Scholl

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed James “Jim” Scholl to the vacant District 3 seat of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners on April 29, 2022. The seat was vacated in December 2021. 

Scholl, of Key West, served as the City of Key West City Manager from 2007 to 2012 and 2014 to 2019. Scholl is a United States Navy Veteran who was the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Key West from 2003 to 2006. In 2023, Scholl was appointed by Gov. DeSantis to the Florida Defense Support Task Force. He is a Sunrise Rotary Club of Key West and Key West Military Affairs Committee member and a past president of the Board of Directors for Sigsbee Charter School. He is a graduate of Leadership Monroe Class XV. Scholl has a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Miami University (Ohio) and a master’s in national security and strategic studies from the Navy War College.
